Athena was born and raised in Houston, Texas. A graduate of
Houston's Episcopal High School and HBCU, Hampton University, Athena
displayed signs of promising artistic ability from an early age, choosing
artists' canvases, oil paints and paintbrushes as her tools of trade. During
her freshman year while preparing for the year-end ball, Athena discovered
a new canvas . . . the face! It was then that she switched from oil paint to
makeup and bought some softer brushes.

Armed with Kevyn Aucoin's "Making
Faces", Sam Fine's "Fine Beauty", and her new tools, Athena began to hone
her skills in the art of makeup. After graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, she
returned to Houston to work for MAC cosmetics. In this arena, surrounded by
other gifted makeup artists, Athena was able to stretch her creative
wings,
working on every shape, shade and style of face. Athena credits her
years with the company as a great learning experience.
In 2003, she moved on to pursue her personal goal of being an
independent professional makeup artist. Athena and fellow makeup artist
Teresa Chuck founded Divado! mobile makeup service. And, in 2004, she started MAKEUP!! a freelance service for commercial and
editorial print, film and music videos. Her work can be seen in countless music
videos and print publications, and this ferociously ambitious artist believes
this is only the beginning. When asked what is next, Athena said, "I want to
LIVE
more, LEARN more and DO more!"
The future surely holds nothing but the best for this artist,
who is
always striving to better herself, her craft and her
industry. Question: Why
ask a mortal? . . . When you can
ask a GODDESS?!
